The Iwi Capacity and Capability Project was developed to better understand the resourcing constraints facing iwi and hapū across the region — and to identify ways to support more equitable participation in regional planning and decision-making.
The study provided a valuable evidence base and set of recommendations. These have been taken seriously by the WRLC and partners. While the intent is strong, the reality of implementing change has proven challenging.
